oakland -- A 44-year-old woman who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Livermore Tuesday night has been identified as Leigh Ann Hussey of Berkeley, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.

Hussey was thrown from her BMW motorcycle when it collided with a dump truck on westbound Interstate 580 near the North Livermore Avenue exit Tuesday night, police said.

Hussey earned a music degree from the University of California, Berkeley and was a singer-songwriter in a band, according to information about her on the Internet. She was a Berkeley native.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash, but according to witness reports, Hussey, who was wearing a helmet, hit the right rear of the truck as it was traveling in the far right lane at 50 to 55 miles per hour about 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, police said.

She then apparently lost control and was thrown under the dump truck.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor, police said.
